Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  1. From around 175% to 400% zoom on desktop, the text and items in the top navigation menu overlap and are hard to view. Some page content overflows horizontally and long text such as email addresses does not wrap. People with low vision who zoom in may find it difficult to navigate the website. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA).
  2. From 150% zoom on desktop, when tabbing through the top navigation menu, the keyboard focus indicator is sometimes hard to see or becomes obscured, and menu items can overlap. People who use a keyboard to navigate may not know which item is focused. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 2.4.7 Focus Visible (Level AA) and SC 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (Level AA).
  3. In the main navigation menu, some elements marked as hidden using aria-hidden=”true” can still receive keyboard focus. Screen reader and keyboard users may tab into content that is visually hidden and confusing to understand. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A) and SC 2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A).
  4. On mobile devices in landscape orientation, the drop‑down navigation menu items can overlap. People using mobile devices may find it difficult to read or select menu items. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA).
  5. Some links and buttons do not meet colour contrast requirements when hovered over. People with low vision may find it difficult to see or identify interactive elements. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA).
  6. Some links use non‑descriptive link text, such as “here”. Screen reader users may not be able to understand what the link is for. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A).
  7. The embedded subscription form iframe does not have an accessible name.
Screen reader users may not know what the embedded form is or what it is used for. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (Level A).
  8. Some PDF documents are not fully accessible, for example they have insufficient colour contrast or use raw URLs instead of meaningful link text. This fails WCAG 2.2 SC 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA) and SC 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A).

Our website developers and content editors identified the above issues on the sample pages during the most recent accessibility audit. We are working on a fix.
