Apprenticeship Incentive Programme

Solent Freeport and the Solent Growth Partnership have launched a new Apprenticeship Incentive Programme to help small and medium-sized businesses recruit apprentices for the first time. This programme will create opportunities for young people previously not in education, employment or training (NEET).

Eligible employers can receive:

• Up to £2,000 per Foundation Apprenticeship
• £1,500 per General Apprenticeship Standard

Funding is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participating businesses will also receive expert support through the Solent Business Growth Service, including:

• Recruitment guidance
• Onboarding support
• Advice on long-term workforce development

This programme is designed for:

• SMEs in the Solent region
• Businesses hiring their first apprentice
• Employers recruiting individuals previously NEET

Apprenticeships must be within one of the following growth sectors:

• Business Services Engineering
• Engineering & Manufacturing
• Software & Data
• Hardware, Network & Infrastructure

To apply, employers must:

• Be an SME operating in the Solent region
• Be recruiting an apprentice for the first time
• Hire an apprentice who was NEET prior to starting
• Offer a role in one of the eligible sectors

Important: Apprenticeship starts must fall within the application window. Retrospective applications are not accepted.
